CAREERS

Build the futureof tech in Albania.

We're a small team that moves fast, learns constantly, and builds things people actually use. If that sounds like your kind of environment, we want to meet you.

WHY SQUARE

What it's like to work here.

Real ownership

You'll own your work end-to-end. No ticket factories. Every person here sees their code running in production and used by real people.

Constant learning

A small team means nobody stays in one lane. You read the whole codebase, work across front end, back end and deployment, and learn from code review on software that is already in production.

Global clients, local team

Work on projects for European and international clients without leaving Albania. The best of both worlds.

FAQ

Working at Square Software: what candidates ask

How hiring runs here, what the work involves, and what happens to your application after you send it.

  • What software developer jobs are open in Albania right now?
Every role we are actually hiring for is listed above with its level, employment type and location, and today that is a mix of engineering and commercial positions, most of them based in Tirana. Each opening has its own page with the full description, the requirements and the stack for that role. A posting stays on this page only while it is genuinely open. If nothing on the list matches you, send an open application to careers@square.al rather than applying to the closest role.
  • How do I apply for a job at Square Software?
Open the role you want, use the Apply button, and fill in the form. It asks for your first and last name, an email address, and your CV as a PDF, DOC or DOCX file up to 5 MB. Phone number, LinkedIn profile, portfolio link and a cover letter are optional. There is no account to create and no third-party job board in between. If you prefer email, write to careers@square.al and attach the same material.
  • What happens after I send my application?
It reaches the same small team that does the work, and a person reads it. There is no automated CV scoring step in between. We go through applications in batches rather than every day, so a reply is not instant, and we would rather tell you a role is closed or on hold than leave you waiting on it. When an application moves forward, the first step is a short introductory call, before anything technical.
  • What does the interview process look like?
An introductory call covers the role, the working arrangement and pay, because there is no reason to reach the end of a process and discover the numbers do not work. After that comes a technical conversation built around work you have already done: a project you shipped, the part that was yours, the constraints you had and the decisions you made. We do not set whiteboard puzzles and we do not ask candidates to do unpaid work on live client projects.
  • What should I put in my application?
Specifics beat adjectives. Tell us what you built, which part was yours, and what was difficult about it. A link to a repository, an app store listing or a running site is worth more than a list of technology names. If you are early in your career, one small project you finished and can explain in detail is a stronger signal than a long list of courses. Keep the cover letter short: one screen is plenty.
  • What technologies would I work with?
Mostly TypeScript, with React and Next.js on the front end, Node.js and .NET on the back end, PostgreSQL for data, and Docker and Kubernetes for deployment. Some client projects run on Angular, and mobile work is cross-platform. Each posting lists the stack for that specific role, and nobody is expected to arrive knowing all of it. Our own site, our internal admin tooling and the products we run are built on the same stack, so the code you would read is the code we ship.
  • What kind of work does Square Software actually do?
Custom web applications, mobile apps and cloud systems for clients in Albania, Italy and the wider EU, alongside our own products such as SunEasy, a beach reservation platform on the Albanian coast. A large part of the Albanian work involves fiscalization: sending invoices to the tax administration central invoice platform and keeping that integration correct when the specification changes. It is production software with real users and real deadlines, not demo projects.
  • Where are the roles based, and which languages do you work in?
We are registered and based in Tirana, Albania, and we have no other office. Each posting states its own location and whether it is remote; commercial roles cover the coast and involve travel in season. We work on Central European time, the same working day as Italy and the rest of the EU. Albanian and English cover almost everything internally, English for written work and documentation, and Italian is an advantage where a posting says so.
  • What happens to my CV and personal data?
Your application goes into our own systems and is used only for hiring. We do not sell it, publish it, or pass it to recruitment agencies. You can ask us for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to careers@square.al. Those rights come from Albanian law no. 124/2024 on the protection of personal data and from the GDPR; the Commissioner publishes the legislation at the link below.
  • What should I know before applying to a company this small?
There is no separate QA, DevOps or project management department to hand work to, so an engineer follows a feature from the first conversation to production and answers for it afterwards. That suits people who want ownership and frustrates people who want a narrow ticket queue. We publish junior roles when we have one to fill, but we run no permanent internship programme and no graduate scheme, and we hire only for the roles listed on this page.
