Custom software products: frequently asked questions
Everything teams usually want to know before trusting us with a product build.
What software products has Square built?
Our flagship product is SunEasy, a sunbed and beach reservation platform on the Albanian Riviera, now serving 10,000+ users and 20,000+ bookings across 25+ beaches. It is the only product we have running in production. Everything else we build is client work, owned by the client, so we do not publish it by name. The other entries on this page are our own products at an earlier stage, and each card states the stage it is at.Can you build a custom product for my business?
Yes. We partner with startups and established companies to design, build, and scale custom software products from MVP to production. How long does it take to build a custom product?
A working MVP typically takes 8-16 weeks depending on scope. Full production product with integrations usually 4-9 months.Who owns the intellectual property?
You do. 100%. All code, designs, and assets transfer to the client on delivery. We sign NDAs before any technical discussion.Do you handle maintenance after launch?
Yes. We offer support and feature-evolution contracts after launch, or we hand off to your internal team with full documentation.Which of these products can I use today?
SunEasy is the one that is live: sunbed and beach reservations, cashless payment and multilingual support on the Albanian Riviera. The other cards carry their real status, a demo you can request or a build still in development, and we would rather label them that way than let a roadmap read like a shipped catalogue. If you want to see something that is not live yet, ask and we will show you the working parts on a call. What happens after I ask about a product build?
A person reads your message, not a ticket queue. Our average reply is under two hours during Albanian business hours, usually with two or three questions and a proposed call of about thirty minutes. On that call we want the problem, not a specification. A few working days later you get a written scope, an estimate with its assumptions listed, and the order we would build things in. Nothing is billed before a signed contract. What should a product brief contain?
One page is enough. Tell us the problem you want gone, who will use the software every day, the systems it has to talk to such as accounting, ERP, a payment provider or fiscalization, any hard deadline, and the budget range you can defend internally. Screenshots, the spreadsheet your team currently works around, or a competitor product you like are more useful than prose. A brief that admits what is still uncertain beats one that invents requirements. How does the estimate work, and what does it cost?
Rates are 35-55 EUR per hour depending on stack and seniority. We do not publish a fixed price list, because two projects with the same title rarely carry the same scope. After discovery you pick the shape: time and materials with an agreed monthly cap, or a fixed price on a scope we have both signed off. Estimates arrive as a range with the assumptions written down, so when a number moves you can see which assumption moved with it.Do you sign an NDA, and what happens to our data?
We sign a mutual NDA before any technical discussion, and we can attach one to our first reply if you ask. What you send through the contact form is used only to answer your enquiry and is kept for thirty-six months. During a build we prefer to work inside your cloud accounts and your repositories, so production data and credentials stay under your control, and access stays limited to the people actually working on your project. What do you build with?
TypeScript across the stack: React and Next.js on the web, Node.js on the server, React Native or Flutter on mobile, Python or .NET when a client environment already lives there, PostgreSQL for data, and AWS, Google Cloud or Azure for hosting. We choose boring, well-documented tools on purpose. Whoever maintains the product after us, your team or ours, should be able to read it without a tour guide.Which timezone and languages does the build run in?
We work from Tirana in Central European Time, so the day overlaps fully with Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and the rest of the EU. English and Albanian are used daily and Italian on most projects. Documentation, code comments and written updates are in English by default, so a team that joins later can read them without a translation step. Can you build Albanian fiscalization into the product?
Yes. We build and integrate invoicing against the Albanian fiscalization service: certificate handling, invoice signing, NIVF and QR code generation, and the retry logic the process needs when the service cannot be reached. This is the one country-specific part of our work. It applies to Albania only and does not transfer to another country tax system, so we do not sell it as a general compliance feature. What product work do you turn down?
We are a small team and we name the limits before a contract rather than after. We do not staff a 24/7 on-call rota, we do not take work that needs a dozen developers at once, we do not resell third-party licences, and we do not build hardware or embedded firmware. We also turn down deadlines that can only be met by skipping testing. If your project needs a larger supplier, we will say so on the first call.
